Terrorism against Canada for ???

I have not followed the Canadian story too closely. They apparantly have found a group of Islamic radicals who were plotting and had purchased materials to blow up buildings in Canada. As the story unfolds, perhaps I will comment on it. However, what I want to know now is - why???

We have heard a few reasons spouted about American Imperialism and their interference in the Middle East as a lame excuse to kill 3000 of our innocent people on 9/11. Canada on the other hand has been quite outspoken against the US over Iraq, keeps out of the Middle-East, is the furthest thing from imperialistic and from all I can see is a strong supporter of a Palestinian state.

As we have seen in Bali, Egypt, Jordan and now Canada there seems to be no rhyme of reason to the targets these terrorists are choosing. Just blow up somebody; anybody. While all of this goes on, there is never the level of public denouncement of these activities that is needed. There may be a whisper here and there, but the UN, the world body and especially Muslim leaders around the world have been too silent when it comes to denouncing this senseless violence. In many aspects it is encouraged directly or indirectly. It is time to change.

As LA can vouch for, such developments are the matters I follow. Some time back, I read this, which you might find enlightening. Also, today I posted a blog article entitled "Book Review: Future Jihad," and followed up in the comments section with an item from CBS News.

I'm getting concerned that we're really in for it, with this fifth column in our midst.

Now, off to read your article about global warming.

I think you're being a bit short sighted when you state that Canada is a supporter of Palestine.

Canada, unlike the US, has managed to retain a modicum of neutrality in global affairs since 9/11. The Canadians are unlikely to commit troops and billions of dollars to silly wars (with the exception of Afghanistan), and for this I applaud the erstwhile Liberal Government.

You're looking at the issue in black and white. Just because the Canadians aren't complicit in the "War on Terror" doesn't mean they support the religious extremists. The Republican "you're either with us or with the terrorists" mentality is not helpful, and does nothing to fix the problem facing the US.

I meant they support a Palestinian state and do not support Israel like the US does. They have stayed neutral. This make me wonder why they suddenly are a target?

    Ah.

My guess is as good as yours, but it might have something to do with the fact that Muslim fanatics are insane. Any reason to inflict damage upon innocents in order to appease their god is good enough for them.
