Bush to Redeploy 4400 Troops - to Iraq
Look out for exploding heads in the liberal camp. While in the middle of their squabbling over the troop surge of 21,500 troops into Iraq, Bush has apparently decided they needed an extra scoop on their hot fudge sundae. He has approved 4400 new troops to be added to the already controversial surge number.
Many blogs including LASunsett over at PYY are posting the videos of the PR attacks by the anti-war crowd on one of their most loyal congressmen - David Obey - WI. Obey voted against the war and wants to do everything he can to end it. There is just one little problem - he is a realist and the anti-war crowd can never be accused of having two feet in reality. They ask him why he isn't doing this or that. One less than informed guy asks the congressman why he doesn't filibuster! Obey knows he does not have the votes to overcome any filibuster in the Senate or a veto by Bush. Twice he opens his jacket to ask if they see any magic wand in there.
The additional troops are telling me that Bush is trying to ride a wave of recent successes in Baghdad resulting from the troop surge. The shuffling of the lead positions in the Iraq war effort seems to have brought an improved recipe for now. If more success comes of it and we reach a tipping point where those opposed to the surge are forced to admit it was a good idea; we may see the war effort head into a new phase where everybody is behind victory. I realize many critics will think it is far too early for such talk and may never be willing to swallow such talk no matter how well things get.
There is a group of heavy hitting bloggers who do not think it is too early for victory talk. They have banded together and formed a new blog consortium called the Victory Caucus. I love their mission statement:

Deliver the perspectives and news on the war effort which the mainstream media neglects to help the American public understand the nature of our conflict and its true progress
Provide tools and infrastructure to help citizens who are committed to victory organize into a recognized and influential caucus
Identify opportunities for the caucus to act and exert influence on America’s leaders and to directly aid and support the men and women of our military

Thanks for the plug, buddy.
It is certainly beyond me how these leftist organizations can attract some fairly bright people with a lot of potential, and turn them into anti-war Moonie-like creatures, so easily. The power of cults must be stronger than we first realized.

You're welcome. What amazes me is the number of people who seem to not want victory in this conflict if it were handed them on a silver platter. Of course they never admit they are cheering for defeat. When asked about it they just start spouting off about how bad things are and never answer if they want victory.
Victory won't come on a silver platter. It will come by the efforts of our troops, and the Iraqis. It can only happen if enough people keep our resolve to block the efforts of these "moonies".

Agreed, Bush blew it and now there is no way we can leave or all of the Middle East will descend into total Chaos. So much for his Neo Con vision.
Anyway, your gonna have a tough one convincing Joe Six pack and Suzie Housecoat to swallow anymore BS from this Moron as so far he has gotten it all Wrong! Also, the majority of Americans can really careless about this war and have more Knowledge of who won on American Idol than what is going on in Baghdad. You want the average american to take notice of what is happening Raise taxes and have ALL pay for this Mess and bring back the Draft. Do both these and AMericans will once again take an active interest in American foreign policy and will think twice before they send American men and women to die for a Moron's Half baked and ill executed mess.

Joe, I agree that Bush has credibility issues. Some based on his actions and decisions. Others based on how the left has distorted things.
At this point, it is only clear change that brings strong progress that will make a difference. Justifiably or not, his words alone no longer cut it.

CF,
You truly are confused. If the "neo-cons" definition of victory were chaos they could have declared victory quite a bit ago.
Long ago victory was more simple. When the enemy was destroyed or routed, you had the victory. Then we got civilized and now victory has a second phase where they expect the victor to rebuild and stabilize. Unfortunately in this case the enemy is not yet civilized.
No, you are right. The insurgency will not succeed in supression and subjugation of the Iraqi people. Not as long as people who can think straight are in control. I realize in your warped view you somehow have twisted it that the Americans are suppressing and subjugating the Iraqis. Mixed with your statements on our economy I am beginning to see you simply hate America out of envy. Anything else makes no sense.
And I am still interested in what country you originate from.

C'd F,
You need to get your message to all those Iraqis that we are suppressing and subjugating... You know the ones... The ones voting for representatives for the first time in their lives.
Would these elections be good if the U.N. had established them?

He also needs to get his message out to the Kurdish Iraqis, which the same ones that have built a thriving economy with very little violence in their region, and the same ones that film commercials thanking America for removing Saddam. I bet it hasn't even dawned on them that we are reigning and ruling over them, with an iron thumb.
