Lieberman gets a boost from Bubba
NewsMax reports that Bill Clinton is giving Joe Lieberman a boost calling those who want to oust him "nutty". According to NewsMax, Clinton said:
The Dems hero also made a comment against the repeated calls by Dems for a timetable to withdraw:
"If we allow our differences over what to do now in Iraq to divide us instead of focusing on replacing Republicans in Congress; that's the nuttiest strategy I ever heard in my life," Clinton told the nonprofit cultural organization. And
So is he trying to help Joe, or is he taking a swipe at his wife who kicked Lieberman while he was down last week? Then again it could be a strategy to smooth out the statement Hillary made. Hillary will need to start making some statements offensive to the moderate Dems if she is going to win the presidential primary. So Bill will need to follow after her and smooth things out with the mods.Clinton defended Lieberman's Democratic credentials, mentioning how the senator has been endorsed by labor unions, environmental organizations and gay groups.
"We've got a world of differences between ourselves and the Republicans," he said. "So I think the Democrats are making a mistake to go after each other ... for a situation none of them created."
The Dems hero also made a comment against the repeated calls by Dems for a timetable to withdraw:
Clinton questioned efforts of some Democrats to impose a fixed timetable for removing U.S. troops from Iraq - something Lieberman opposes.Good question. One would not expect Bubba to come up with something so sensible, nor often say something I would agree with.
"Why send a signal to the people that are trying to keep Iraq divided and tear it up when we're gonna go," he asked.

Lieberman is done! Unlike those on the right that support Bush no matter how bad he Screws up. This turncoat Red Stater in Blue State clothing will be made to pay for his bad decision to support that Half wit Bush and his failed policy in Iraq. Good Riddance to this walking sleeping pill of a Dem.
So why are we in Iraq this week or IS IT CIVIL WAR YET???

Joe,
I'm starting to be concerned for your blood pressure. Have you had it checked lately? Apoplexy is not a healthy way of life.
Are you saying that Bill Clinton is also a "turncoat"?
Clinton has been described (by the left-leaning press, anyway) as having political savvy and knowing which way the political wind blows and best being able to take advantage of it. Is his support of Lieberman, in your view, an indication that those descriptions of Clinton are/were wrong?

Blood presure is fine...except when I hear Bush on TV or Radio spouting more BS and Lies...but then again I have started to expect that as the rest of America has.
This time Clinton is wrong as this Jackass ie Lieberman has to do what no one that makes any bad decisons in the Bush Admin does ie he has to go.
He supported this Moron and his debacle in the desert and must be held accountable even if the GOP and it's follows won't do the same for Bush.

I didn't link over to NewsMax (I'm sure I don't have to explain that). I did this morning listen to the original interview here while I did my ironing. (BTW, if you like modern music, The Current music feed from Mn Public Radio is outstanding.) What I took away from the talk is that Clinton's position is spot-on: you don't throw someone with national stature under the bus at this stage (smoe, we'd disagree on this one). Clinton's comments were more about Dem unity than supporting Lieb or positioning Hillary, IMHO, and pretty unremarkable if only viewed from tht angle.

paw, you are correct the basics of his words were Dem unity. In order to have Dem unity in this he must imply support for Joe. My comments on Hillary were speculation. Basically when any politician says something we can question if he is saying something and meaning another or if there are unspoken motivations behind it. I usually make clear when I am speculating on this stuff as opposed to stating it as fact.
I think you saw that and were answering my speculation as such, but I wanted to make a point that I both state facts AND speculate on this blog. I just want to make sure that they are clearly marked.
