    Outrageous!

    fkab,

No - because it's unthinkable that the senior official to an organization devoted to peaceful diplomatic relations would actually shake the hand of a radical terrorist leader who believes Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth, and gaining nuclear weapons might help him achieve that goal. On second thought, that's the kind of "diplomat" that's right up Kofi's alley.

To claim this guy is simply an opponent of the US is quite short-sighted of you FKAB. Achmanijad is an enemy of nearly the entire world. To pose smiling with this thug at the last UN address Kofi will have underscores his inability to grasp reality. It represents the fact that Kofi has spent most of his energy resisting the free world while sucking up to dictators and terrorists.

Don't forget that despite his denials, Achmanijad was a key player in the taking of US hostages during the revolution.

    Firstly:

    Ahmadinejad

Secondly: I don't think that Kofi Annan actually approves of Ahmadinejad's insanely right wing religious government and its evil policies. But you must remember that the UN is not an extension of the US, and that even unpleasant people like Ahmadinejad are welcome to share in peaceful talks.

How can you have peaceful and open talks with ALL nations (hence the title, United Nations) when a democratically elected enemy of the US is excluded? Seems too much like a 'No Homers' type institution if that's going to be your attitude.

(I'm hoping that everyone watches, and is familiar with, the Simpsons)

    RWA,

Hmm, interesting and well articulated assessment. Perhaps we can COHEREce you to write a book about life as a retarded political expert?

    hehe... "The Retard Who Could"

rtw: a radical terrorist leader who believes Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth
Now, now, now! You should try to tune in to some other news channels than Fox, dude. The President of Iran never said that, that is the false mantra you neo cons always repeat like dumb cheaps. Let's get this straight once and for all what he actually said so you can stop spreading these fucking lies witch I get so sick and tired of reading over and over again.

    (From Wikipedia)
Translation of phrase "wiped off the map"

Many news sources have presented one of Ahmadinejad's phrases in Persian as a statement that "Israel must be wiped off the map", an English idiom which means to cause a place to stop existing.

Juan Cole, a University of Michigan Professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History, translates the Persian phrase as:

The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem (een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods) must [vanish from] the page of time (bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad).

According to Cole, "Ahmadinejad did not say he was going to wipe Israel off the map because no such idiom exists in Persian" and "He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse."

That's what the President said. But you even spice it up further saying "Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth" wow! you've got a vivid imagination I must say. Almost sounds like a title of a SciFi movie. I wonder how you imagine Ahmadinejad would do such a develish act?

As for him being a terrorist, that's the biggest peace of shit crap I've read too. Where are the links to him being a terrorist? Tell me, are all other world leaders who oppose the world police USA's politics terrorists too? If we think in the way you do, I guess 90-95% of the worlds population are terrorists then! Me included!

And for the picture of Ahmadinejad and Annan, so what? It doesn't prove anything or communicate anything but that these two men are actually talking . When did talking become a crime?! Or shaking hands? Something your own president should try once. TALK to your opponent and shake his hand. I wonder if the Bush Admin. actually made any new friends since they first stole the election?

But Rumsfeld knows what I am talking about, aics, why don't you post the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam while they were still best of friends?
That photo is much more interesting and telling than the photo you posted.

    merete,

Forgive me; I was paraphrasing. From now on, I'll try not to. When I'm speaking of Ahmadinejad's attitude toward Israel, I'll use the phrase "must vanish from the page of time." How would you interpret it if I said that your nation or its leadership "must vanish from the page of time?"

As for Ahmadinejad being a terrorist leader - in my book, anyone who involves himself in a plot to kidnap people and hold them hostage is a terrorist, no matter if it happened before he was the ruler of a country.

No, RWA, you've got me all wrong. It's silly really.

    1. I am not from a red state

    2. I am not from any colour state. Actually, I suppose it might look brownish from space, but that's a bit irrelevant.

    3. I am not inbred

    4. I am not a 'chickenhawk'

    5. I despise Bush

    6. I disapprove of his silly war

    7. I don't care much about football

    8. You're an idiot.

I'm sorry about this, but seriously... there's only one thing that I hate more than a conservative moron, and it's a liberal moron.

RWA, do your research first before you go around brandishing others as 'red state inbreds' hmm?

"PROUDLY PIONTING OUT TO ALL RIGHT WING NUTS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN HAD AND LIED TO BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION"

Hypocritically, I told you to do your research before mouthing off, when I hadn't actually bothered to visit your site.

    You're a disgrace.

    That spelling? Shocking. Grammar? Terrible.

    The picture was funny though.

    fkab,

I have determined that the looney dictator of Iran is not worth memorize the correct spelling of his name. It is only recently that I attempted writing his name at all.

    merete,
I find it interesting who you choose to spend valuable time defending or to set the record straight for vs. who you spend time demonizing. Tell me, which country would you prefer to live in? A country run by Bush or by the Iranian terrorist?

Oh, so because I don't think Ahmadinejad is a terrorist and get upset of you guys throwing away with words that are false and untrue, I am now demonizing? Wow, maybe I am possessed by the devil without me knowing it!? Only a true good Christian like you could see that!

"Which country would you prefer to live in, A country run by Bush or by the Iranian terrorist?
Now that's an super easy choice. As Bush is on my very BOTTOM list, I of course would choose Ahmadinejad. Also because he is by far more intelligent than Bush which I just have NO love for.

Let me ask you then, why do you hate Ahmadinejad so much? And also please explain why he is a terrorist, because there are no proofs anywhere that he is, so you guys must be sitting on some exclusive information here! Please share! Or you are probably referring to the the kidnappings of the American hostages in '79? Keep your facts straight here now, there are NO evidence that this was really Ahmadinejad. But you of course believe everything your Government is telling you. If the man on the photo just looks like Ahmadinejad, it MUST be him, right? You just want it to be him so ergo it is him. Just like all the evidence that Iraq was a terrorist state and had links to Al Quaida? Like the evidence that Iraq was full of WMD's? Is that your logic thinking?

And yes I have respect for Ahmadinejad. At least he tried to keep a dialogue with Bush, writing him a letter, coming to his country to speak, setting up him own blog and inviting Bush for a debate for the whole world to see live on TV. Man, how I wished that in some miraculous way Bush would accept. But of course, even stupid George Bush understood that this was a no win situation for him no matter how he looked at it. So they just do what they do best - IGNORE problems and pretend everything is cool.

Last question: are you still one of the maybe 30% of Americans that still support Bush?

Good Question!! Seems like a lot of the GOP lovers here follow lockstep no matter how much of a failure Bush's policies become ie Iraq, Afghanistan..etc. and no matter how many of his truths are proved to be lies.

As far as the Iranian Pres and the likes of Hugo Chavez,Americans should ask why is it that we are so hated??? We know for a FACT that Bush's policies have increased Terrorism and basic dislike for America, but America's policies abroad before Bush sowed the seeds of this response..ie support of Dictators ex. Saddam and the Shah and the stealing of the third world's resources.

Maybe since Bush has got it "ALL" wrong it maybe time for US ie the USA as a nation to follow another path??? I know...."STAY THE COURSE"
