Screaming at the Radio Part Two
When I heard 10 years to energy independence I nearly choked. Hasn't the Democrat line on drilling offshore and in ANWR been that we would not realize a single drop of oil from those venues for 10 years, so it does not make sense to begin the process??? By the way, they have been saying that for 10 years, so if they had had the foresight and judgment required for good leadership, we would NOW be benefiting from that oil.Energy we have to deal with today, because you're paying $3.80 here in Nashville for gasoline, and it could go up. And it's a strain on your family budget, but it's also bad for our national security, because countries like Russia and Venezuela and, you know, in some cases, countries like Iran, are benefiting from higher oil prices.
So we've got to deal with that right away. That's why I've called for an investment of $15 billion a year over 10 years. Our goal should be, in 10 year's time, we are free of dependence on Middle Eastern oil.
Basically the Democrat position on oil drilling is ridiculous. There is no consistency and Obama underscores that point by alluding to a 10 year plan. McCain should have jumped all over this and missed an opportunity to capitalize on another Obama stumble.

Dems on energy:
We should not drill for more oil, because it will take ten whole years to make a difference.
But: We should work on alternative energy sources, because in just ten short years, we'll be free of foreign oil.

Great summary of my point. As I have always said, consistency has never been a liberal strong point.
